Dr. Michael Merz can look back on more than 35 years of IT experience. He studied computer science and economics and received his doctorate from the University of Hamburg in the Department of Computer Science. He is the founder and has been the managing director of PONTON GmbH for over 22 years and has been involved in Europe-wide consulting and development projects in the energy industry for the past 20 years. Michael Merz has been involved in the development of industry standards and platforms, ranging from European OTC energy trading and clearing of exchange-based energy trading transactions to the creation of a standardized data exchange infrastructure for Austrian market communication. In addition, Michael Merz is active as a consultant and book author in topics where IT and energy touch.
