Dr.-Ing. Arvid Amthor studied technical cybernetics with a focus on control engineering and automation technology at the Ilmenau university of technology. After that he completed his PhD at the Collaborative Research Center 622 of the German Research Foundation “Nanopositioning and Nanomeasuring Machines” on the topic of “Model-based control of nanopositioning and nanomeasuring machines.” Furthermore, he led the “Mechatronic Systems” research group at the department of Systems Analysis at the Ilmenau university of technology for two years.
In 2012, Dr.-Ing. Arvid Amthor joined the “Metals Technologies” business unit of Siemens AG and worked in the pre-development department in the area of model-based thickness control of cold rolling mills. Since 2015, Dr.-Ing. Arvid Amthor is working for the central research department of Siemens AG on the topics of energy automation and island-grid control of smartgrids. Dr.-Ing. Arvid Amthor is the author of more than 40 scientific publications and the inventor of many patents.
